The big Pillow fight...How to choose and distinguish between filling types & more.

Good morning good morning. Today I’d like to talk to you about a question that we are often asked in the hospitality industry as well as the private sector. This question is, "What are the different types of pillows one gets and how do they compare to each other, and of course, which is the best to buy." The summary below contains the variety of pillows that we here at Linen Drawer generally supply to the hospitality industry (Please note this information applies specifically to our products):
First up we have the Unicurl filled pillow with a pure cotton casing: The Filling of this pillow is durable polyester unicurl fibre with a relatively firm support. The polyester filling is allergy free.
The casing is a luxurious downproof cotton fabric and the expected lifespan is 12-18 months.
These pillows are fully machine washable and can be tumble dried. Note that these are the most durable synthetic filled allergy-free pillow.
Next up we have the Micro fibre filled pillow with a pure cotton casing: This filling is a luxurious polyester microfibre with a medium support and is also allergy free. The casing is a luxurious downproof cotton fabric and lifespan expected on these pillows are 12 months. Being fully machine washable and tumble dryable they are the most luxurious synthetic filled allergy-free pillow.
The following pillow is the first natural pillow which is the Duck down and feather filled pillow with a pure cotton casing: The filling is a luxurious duck down (20%) and duck feather (80%) which offers medium support. Importantly. note that down and feather filling has been washed and sterilised to minimise the potential for allergies. The casing is a luxurious downproof cotton fabric and the lifespan of this beautiful product is expected to be 24-36 months (even longer if well looked after).
This pillow is also fully machine washable and can be tumble dried. It is a very durable pillow.
And then the last product in our range is the 3 Chamber – duck down and feather pillow with a pure cotton casing: This pillow is constructed with one inner chamber and 2 outer chambers – which forms the top and bottom of the pillow. The filling of the inner chamber is duck feather (100%) giving good support whilst the filling of the 2 outer chambers is 90% duck down (with 10% duck feather) making the pillow fantastic to sleep on. In this case, the down and feather filling has also been washed and sterilised to minimise the potential for allergies. The casing is a luxurious downproof cotton fabric and the expected lifespan on this pillow is 24-36 months. The pillows are fully machine washable and can be tumble dried, making this the most durable and luxurious down and feather pillow in our range.
We have found that in general the hospitality industry will provide a combination of: synthetic (polyester) and down & feather filled pillows to cater for all different needs and preference.
Over the last two decades the technology behind the manufacture of down and feather products hav improved and the prevalence of allergies have been reduced significantly. The quality of down proof casings as well as the washing and sterilising of the down and feather has resulted in this reduction in allergies. In general it is important to note that the pillows should be washed on a regular basis to prevent the build up of dust mites that can also cause an allergic reaction.
Of course, in the end, it all comes down to what you prefer and can afford. So for more information and pics of our inner products follow this link now. http://www.linendrawer.co.za. Whatch this space for more info.
